DCV Engineering Expands the Fleet of Crawler Excavators Doosan

The plant hire business DCV Engineering, with headquarters in Wellingborough in Northamptonshire, has expanded the company’s rental fleet with the purchase of four new DX140LCR-5 15.5 tonne and two DX225LC-5 22.1 tonne crawler excavators from Doosan.

Supplied by Pioneer Plant, the local Authorised Doosan dealer based in Leicester, the new DX140LCR-5 and DX225LC-5 models are now part of a comprehensive fleet of excavators from DVC Engineering covering all sizes from 1-30 tonne.

David Venn, Joint Managing Director of DCV Engineering, comments:

“After a steady start to the year, the rental market is really beginning to pick up and we have purchased the new Doosan excavators from Pioneer Plant to expand our fleet to meet this demand. Since we purchased our first Doosan excavator in 2014, a DX225LC-3 model, we have continued to choose the Doosan brand, owing to its excellent quality, reliability, performance and residual prices. Coupled with the excellent service provided by Pioneer Plant, it is not surprising that we have continued to purchase Doosan excavators and wheel loaders.”

Joining a rental fleet comprising well over 500 pieces of equipment for hire, the selection of Doosan excavators available from DCV Engineering starts with the smallest model in the Doosan range, the one tonne DX10Z mini-excavator from Doosan.

Nationwide Hire Service

Centrally based with very close connections via major roads such as the M1, M6, A45 and A14, DCV Engineering provides a nationwide service. David Venn said:

“We started as a one man and van operation. Today the company has four service engineers and three full time delivery drivers. Other members of our staff are also fully trained with HGV licences so they can help out with deliveries if necessary. We are a family company and this is indicative of the extensive training we want to provide for our staff. DCV Engineering believes very strongly in investing in our people.”

The Doosan DX140LCR-5 reduced tail swing model provides a 6% increase in power and a 3% increase in torque over the previous version of this crawler excavator. With a focus on greater power, robustness and versatility, the DX140LCR-5 is powered by the Perkins 4.5 engine. Swing torque has also been boosted by 28%. In addition to the efficient engine, new systems and functions have been incorporated to reduce fuel consumption significantly, by up to 10% compared to the previous generation machine.

The Doosan DX225LC-5 crawler excavator is powered by the well-proven 6-cylinder, turbocharged Doosan DL06P water-cooled diesel engine, providing a high power output of 124 kW (166 HP) at 1800 RPM. The DX225LC-5 therefore combines plenty of power with high torque at a lower number of revolutions, ensuring higher reliability over time than other 21 tonne machines, which have 4-cylinder engines running at much higher revs. David Venn added: “The residuals are part of the excellent low cost of ownership offered by the Doosan range of construction equipment. The outstanding service/parts support Pioneer Plant and Doosan provide is also crucial. We expect the same and better support from our suppliers than that we provide for our customers”.
