Hyundai Unveils the New HX360L and HX400L Excavators

At Bauma, Hyundai CE introduced two crawler excavators: the HX360L and HX400L. These next-generation machines are built with a focus on efficiency, operator comfort, and site safety.

The HX360 Excavator is available with a three-piece boom, offering greater articulation and precision for tight work areas. The HX400 Excavator comes with a straight boom setup, ideal for high-reach demolition tasks. The HX400L’s counterweight can reach up to 8 tons.

Both excavators are available in two configurations:

  • The standard “L” version is suitable for general applications
  • The “NL”, a narrower variant with a transport width of under 3 meters—ideal for European markets such as Italy, where compactness is critical for road transport and urban job sites

Efficiency: Smart Systems

The HX360L and HX400L are powered by the award-winning DX08 diesel engine, known for its performance and reliability. These machines deliver:

  • Up to 10% improved fuel efficiency
  • Extended service intervals with 1,000-hour oil change cycles
  • 25% higher productivity, thanks to an intelligent electro-hydraulic system

The FEH (Full Electric Hydraulic) system ensures precise control over pump and valve flow rates, optimizing power delivery for both digging and lifting operations.

Hyundai’s exclusive Rheon Load System, a real-time onboard weighing solution, allows operators to monitor bucket loads instantly. This innovation improves loading accuracy and reduces cycle times. The system is now available even on compact NL models.

An advanced cooling system supports operations in harsh environments. Electronically controlled fans automatically adjust speeds, improving energy efficiency, while a reversible hydraulic fan helps clear dust from radiators, reducing downtime and extending machine life.

Comfort: Designed Around the Operator

Hyundai has paid close attention to the operator environment, equipping the cab with features aimed at increasing comfort, reducing fatigue, and boosting productivity:

  • Premium leather seat, with optional heating and cooling
  • Lift Assist Technology, including a standard four-quadrant lifting map and an optional eight-zone version for enhanced lifting precision
  • Ergonomic controls and an optimized cab layout for greater visibility and reduced vibration

Safety: Protection at Every Level

Operator safety is a central focus of the new HX series, with a suite of integrated technologies that reduce risk and increase situational awareness:

  • SAVM (Surround View Monitoring): the next evolution of Hyundai’s AAVM system, with six AI-powered cameras providing a 360° view of the job site
  • Radar-Based Object Detection: uses three wide-angle radars to detect hazards, triggering visual and audible alerts
  • E-Stop Emergency Function: automatically slows and halts the machine if the operator fails to respond to warnings, adding layer of protection
