Komatsu WA170M-11 Debuts With New Tool Linkage Option

The new machine in the 10-tonne class can now enter series production after completing a 500-hour trial programme.

Komatsu has enhanced its WA170M-11 compact wheel loader with multiple loader linkage options. Produced by Komatsu Germany GmbH, the new machine stands out because, in addition to the classic Z-kinematics, it offers Tool Linkage kinematics for the first time in this category, a feature previously available only on larger models.

The machine came through its extended trial phase with strong feedback, after Komatsu stretched the standard 100-hour programme to a 500-hour test to fine-tune the loader ahead of series production. Only once the results were in and customer input had been folded into the final setup did the WA170M-11 move into full-scale market launch.

The WA170M-11 also features Tool Linkage kinematics

The enhanced testing programme was conducted in collaboration with multiple customers, including German organic waste processing facility Kompostwerk Hellefeld Höhe GmbH.

“It’s been great to be involved in the testing of the WA170M-11. Working collaboratively with Komatsu means the machines are more than optimised”.

Explains Henrik von Werder, Product Manager of Komatsu Europe. Following its launch in April 2025, it has received positive feedback from customers, as confirmed by wheel loader operator Thorsten Schmidt at Kompostwerk Hellefeld Höhe GmbH, who adds

“The machine is very stable, and the cabin is spacious with excellent all-round visibility, including a clear view. Operability is smooth and intuitive, making it comfortable and efficient to work”.

The innovative compact wheel loader is powered by a 96 kW Stage V diesel engine and offers strong performance across a wide range of applications and environments.
