Bosch Rexroth Showcases Next-Gen Mobile Machine Solutions at CONEXPO

Bosch Rexroth provided practical, groundbreaking solutions for electric drivetrains, electronically controllable working hydraulics, future-proof telematics, and step-by-step off-highway automation at CONEXPO/IFPE 2023 in the South Hall, booth S80215 in Las Vegas.

Through an extensive array of working technology demos, exhibits and mobile machine technology experts, booth visitors had the opportunity to learn about the full range of advanced systems, solutions, and products Bosch Rexroth and Hägglunds offers the construction and off-higway equipment industries.

The booth showcased how Rexroth technology continues to transform mobile machines, offering new capabilities and performance that deliver increased power, safety, efficiency and intelligence. Visitors also got to see how Rexroth technology platforms are tailored to easily integrate and work with each other, allowing manufacturers of different sizes and in different development stages to quickly find effective solutions using groundbreaking drive and working functions and digital business models.

In addition, visitors had the opportunity to learn full details on major new mobile machine solutions including:

eLION electrification platform: This advanced high voltage portfolio includes a full range of modular systems for the electrification of mobile machinery, including motor-generators, inverters, gearboxes, software and accessories. Developed for the challenging off-highway environment, the portofolio is scalable and supports driving and work functions in a power range from 20 to 200 kW (peak power up to 400 kW) for applications in both compact and heavy machines.

With a newly developed, single-phase onboard charger, Bosch Rexroth has made its eLION platform fully compatible with the North American charging infrastructure.

The eLION motor-generators and inverters are rugged, robust systems that comply with the IP6K9K ingress protection requirements and are engineered to operate across demanding temperature ranges from -40 °C to 85 °C. The shock and vibration resistance of the eLION components is up to 50 g for shock and 10 g for vibration.

Expanded BODAS capabilities: Booth visitors will be able to learn details about two new capabilities recently added to Rexroth’s BODAS digital portfolio of IoT solutions, software and electronic hardware. The new BODAS Connect module enables secure over-the-air updates of control units, regardless of the size of the vehicle fleet or location; it supports all Rexroth controllers and in the future will also work with third-party devices from partners.

The myBODAS platform offers manufacturers of off-highway machines free access to the entire standard portfolio of BODAS software for controlling mobile machines. This open access means OEMs can download validated software packages for a range of applications free-of-charge, to test them and adapt them to suit the unique requirements of the machines they are building

New Experience Automation exhibit: Rexroth presented an integrated portfolio for the needs-based automation of off-highway machines. The advanced assistance functions for excavators, wheeled loaders and telehandlers include modern sensor systems and intuitive operating devices. These include driver assistance functions for more efficient working virtual walls and critical operating parameter indications for greater work safety. Ready-to-use software modules help to reduce the integration time into existing and future vehicle architectures which speed up market launch.

Hägglunds Quantum: New Hägglunds motor developments promise to push the envelope in multiple directions, reducing size and weight further while expanding performance capabilities, in mining, mobile applications and more. The new Hägglunds Quantum motor range will be revealed during the show.

CytroBox hydraulic power unit: The modular, energy-efficient CytroBox hydraulic power unit is for medium power applications up to 30 kW. It features a compact design and intelligent IoT capabilities such as open communications interfaces, and integrated sensors provide information regarding the current filter, oil or drive condition.

Bosch Rexroth has joined forces with HydraForce, Booth S80207 to expand their global compact hydraulics business. HydraForce focuses on mechanical and electrical cartridge valves and hydraulic integrated circuits (HIC). This new acquisition allows Bosch Rexroth to offer a wider range of compact hydraulic components and systems.

At the show, visitors could see how Rexroth’s eLION motor and inverter package is being used on their newly introduced first battery electric powered, zero emissions industrial carry deck crane, the ICe-80.
