The first handover of the New Generation SD120 underlines growing demand for compaction solutions in Thailand, fuelled by infrastructure expansion and strong customer confidence in Volvo CE’s machine performance and support.
This SD120 delivery marks a notable step for Volvo CE in Thailand, as demand rises for high-performance compaction equipment in road construction and maintenance.
The unit was supplied through Volvo CE’s authorised Thai dealer, CHAIRATCHAKARN (Bangkok) Co., Ltd. (CHAB), to local contractor Gabion (Thailand), a returning customer continuing to expand its Volvo fleet.

Part of a wider Volvo CE fleet
The SD120 was supplied as part of a fleet package together with a New Generation EC210 excavator, underscoring Gabion (Thailand)’s continued trust in Volvo CE equipment and aftersales support.
In 2025, the customer has already acquired two more units of EC210, reporting strong satisfaction with machine performance and service support. This order was placed following the official launch of the New Generation SD120 range at CHAB’s customer expo in February 2026, which marked the model’s debut in the Thai market.
Rising demand for compaction equipment
The handover comes as demand for compaction equipment rises in Thailand, especially for road construction and maintenance works. Since Q4 2025, CHAB has reported strong momentum in the segment, in line with higher infrastructure activity. To keep pace with demand, CHAB has ordered eight SD120 units, four of which have already been delivered, with the remaining four set for delivery in April.
The SD120 soil compactor is designed for productivity and reliability, offering efficient performance across a range of compaction applications. Improved fuel efficiency and Volvo CE’s CareTrack telematics are among the highlights, giving operators real-time visibility of machine status and supporting proactive maintenance.
“Thailand is an important market for Volvo CE, and we are seeing strong demand for efficient and reliable compaction solutions. The delivery of our first SD120 soil compactor reflects both the growing opportunities in infrastructure development and the confidence customers place in Volvo machines and services.”
Said Dwi Prihartono, Head of Market Thailand, Volvo CE

Growing Volvo CE’s presence in the Thai market
As SD120 deliveries ramp up and infrastructure projects sustain customer demand, Volvo CE and CHAB are strengthening their support for Thailand’s construction sector, pairing machines with services aimed at improving efficiency, reducing operating costs, and keeping equipment running longer.
“This delivery marks an exciting step forward for our compaction business in Thailand. Customers are increasingly looking for solutions that combine performance with strong aftermarket support. Our partnership with Volvo CE allows us to deliver both, and we are proud to support Gabion (Thailand) as they continue to grow their operations with Volvo equipment.”
Added Nunnapin Petcharapirat (Nan), CEO of CHAIRATCHAKARN (Bangkok) Co., Ltd.
With the first SD120 delivered and more units due, Volvo CE and CHAB are stepping up support for Thailand’s growing roadworks market.
