Italian Machinery Manufacturing growth estimated in +15% in 2022

UNACEA estimates the 2022 turnover of the Italian machinery manufacturing in about 3.9 billion euros with a growth of 15% on the previous year. 79% of the volume of production, equal to 3.1 billion Euro, is exported to all countries of the world with an increase of 9.7% compared to 2021.

Last year, moreover, imports amounted to around 2.1 billion, growing by 30.4% compared to the previous year by virtue of the extraordinary expansion of the Italian market. The balance trade in 2022 was positive for almost one billion euros and the national employment generated from the production and sale of construction machinery is currently estimated at around 85,000 units. The trade association has also processed the data of the Italian market consisting of the machines sold in Italy, both of national and foreign production. The total volume of construction equipment, road, concrete, and telehandlers reached 29,613 units in 2022 with a 16% increase over the previous year.

For 2023 Unacea, in collaboration with Cer (Centro Europe searches), foresees a slowdown in growth rates which should reach a physiological level +2.4% and 30,322 machines sold.

«Thanks to important industrial efforts and the impetus of European legislation, construction machinery of the latest generations placed on the market have achieved significant goals in terms of safety operators, of reducing the environmental impact, of the quality of the manufactured products –

said Nicola d’Arpino, Vice President of Unacea –.

Often, however, technologies that are widely available on the market and used as practices elsewhere, are struggling to find diffusion in our country due to the persistence of old practices incorrect and harmful construction, or by unjustifiable opposition to the inevitable advancement of the sector and of its legislation. We therefore hope for an increasingly efficient dialogue between industry and a key ministry such as that of companies and Made in Italy, which can contribute to making a technological breakthrough in the world construction, in the common interest of the country’s economic development».
