The center of a fresh new Isuzu Ready-to-Work AWD and 4X4 sales campaign for the month of September, limited numbers of this no-nonsense model are currently available throughout the Isuzu Trucks dealer network at a competitive price point.

Performers in tough Australian conditions, Isuzu’s broader 4×4, and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) range deliver both application suitability and engineering smarts, especially when it comes to off-road conditions and low traction surfaces.

The provisional addition of the NLS 45-150 AWD Traypack delivers yet another factory-backed, rugged, pre-bodied Ready-to-Work solution to an industry-leading off-road line-up.

This special edition variant appeals to a vast array of applications, vocations and user demand, from the payload boost to a robust factory-backed body and that go-anywhere all-wheel-drive capability.

At 4,500 kg GVM and a GCM of 8,000 kg which means up to 4000kg towing capacity. The NLS has the advantage of being able to be driven on standard passenger car license meaning more access for multiple drivers – a boon for those in team-based council, civil, or construction work.

Under the skin

The NLS 45-150 AWD Traypack makes use of a single-speed transfer case incorporating a viscous coupling drive to the front wheels. This secure on-demand, part-time all-wheel-drive functionality means the driver can switch between both two and all-wheel operation via a convenient dashboard-mounted switch (after manually locking the front hubs).

It’s this level of adaptability and flexibility in the field, that gives the NLS AWD Traypack its true edge. While happily at home on the highways and byways of urban Australia, it’s where the track runs out where the NLS really comes into its own.

Isuzu’s Independent Front Suspension (IFS) finds a home in this special edition model, bringing a good level of driver comfort and a predictable ride both on and off the sealed sections.

The NLR platform’s Isuzu 4JJ1-TCS, 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine, outputting 110 kW @ 2,800 RPM.

With a flat torque curve providing max torque of 375 Nm (277 lb.ft) from 1,600 all the way to 2,800 RPM, designed to handle tough terrain, the NLR platform is no slouch.

For improved safety, all NLS models feature ABS and ASR traction control, Hill Start Aid, driver and passenger airbag, and ECE-R29 cab strength compliance, while driver and passenger comfort is aided by integrated air conditioning, a contoured adjustable driver’s seat, central locking, electric windows and mirrors, and an updated multimedia system.

The factory-backed, heavy-duty aluminum tray body comes with integrated load restraint anchor points, headboard including rear window protector, removable drop sides, and rear tailgate as well as an Isuzu reversing camera.

According to National Sales Manager, Les Spaltman, the limited nature of this model makes it all the more attractive. He said:

“Those in the market for a highly capable, go-anywhere work vehicle simply must take a closer look at this limited-edition model. From its all-wheel drive capability to its factory backed body, the NLS AWD Traypack has just about every base covered, regardless of the task at hand. We’re running this sales program for a set time and there’s limited units available, so we’re urging those in the market for a tough, rugged, genuine work truck to get along to your local dealership and take a drive.”
